The challenge
Birders lost sightings when they had no signal, and the old app took six taps to log one bird.
The approach
We tested in the field with twelve birders, cut logging to two taps, and designed an offline-first sync that never asks the user to think about it.
The outcome
The redesign shipped in iOS and Android in one release, with a new onboarding and a shared species list.
